SCADA

scada; It is called “Central Supervision, Control and Data Collection” system.

SCADA systems are a system in which large-scale facilities can be monitored from a single center with devices such as computers, mobile phones or tablets, and they are basically software. It can be used from a single device, or it can be controlled and monitored by more than one computer and portable device with network connections.

It is a system of software and hardware elements that enables industrial organizations to do the following with supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA):

  • Ability to control industrial processes locally or in remote locations
  • Monitoring, collecting and processing real-time data
  • Directly interact with devices such as sensors, valves, pumps, motors and more via human-machine interface (HMI) software
  • Saving events to a log file

In general, the advantages of the SCADA System in practice

• Monitoring the operation by means of the parameters (level, temperature, pressure, digital signals, valve and motor status, system status, etc.) of the operation defined by the user,

• Entering the limit values required for the system (set-point, lower and upper alarm values) via the parameter screens, entering the production recipes and informing the operator about the working recipes via the recipe screens,
• P, I, D parameters can be entered and observed,
• Keeping historical and real-time trends of business values,
• Receiving instant and periodic reports (production, recipe, stock, etc.),
• Possibility of manual intervention to the automatically running system from SCADA screens,
• Displaying alarms and states and recording them to the printer and/or database,
• Advanced quality control (eg statistical process control) support.

Areas where the SCADA system is frequently used;

• Cement industry,
• Chemical industry,
• Natural gas and oil pipelines,
• Petrochemical industry,
• Iron and steel industry,
• Electricity generation and transmission systems,
• Electricity distribution facilities,
• Water collection, treatment and distribution facilities,
• Air pollution control,
• Automotive industry,
• Building automation,
• They can be listed as process facilities.
